| Location – Your session will take place in either my studio, or at a location of your choice (within Salt Lake or Tooele Valley). Good locations for portraits include the park, the mountains, or even your home or backyard. I will travel outside of Salt Lake and Tooele Valley for an additional fee. Many children are more comfortable in their own home or their own backyard. We will achieve the best images if your child is comfortable. If you feel that your child will be more comfortable outside of the studio, then I am more than willing to comply. How long will my session last? - A portrait session will typically last between one and two hours. We will take as many breaks as necessary – for nursing, snacks, and simply to ensure that your baby or child is completely relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. I will do everything possible to ensure a successful and enjoyable portrait experience. What to wear – Simple clothing is best. Avoid wearing patterns or logos in order to keep the focus of the portrait on the subject’s face. Simple clothing will also enhance the timeless look of your portraits and keep them from looking “dated.” Clothing choices that photograph well include denim (particularly overalls for children), khakis, and solid colors. Babies look adorable wearing diapers or no clothing at all! Dark colors have a slimming effect. Avoid combining dark and light clothing choices in the same portrait. Make sure that everyone is wearing the same style of clothing. Wear formal, semi-formal, or casual clothing depending on your family’s personality, but be sure that the style is consistent for everyone being photographed. What should I bring? – I prefer to shoot with minimal props in order to keep the focus of the portrait on the subject. However, please feel free to bring items that are particularly special to your child – a doll, blankie, stuffed animal, etc, as this will add to the meaning of the portrait for you and your child. Please do not bring additional cameras with you to the session. Please avoid inviting more people to the session than will be participating in the actual portraits. Having too many people around can be distracting to the subjects and may result in less than pleasing portrait results. You are more than welcome to bring snacks and drinks with you to the session, as I do allow for breaks in between portraits. Please avoid bringing sugary snacks if they tend to make your children hyper, as again, this can lead to less than pleasing results. Viewing your portraits – Your proofs will be available for viewing within 10 days of your session. We will schedule a time for you to return to view your portraits at the end of your portrait session. All ordering appointments take place at the studio, where your proofs will be presented in the form of a musical slideshow. Please make sure that everyone involved in the ordering process will be able to attend the viewing session. You are encouraged to place the order at the time of the viewing appointment – slideshows are not permitted to be removed from the studio. Finished Portraits – Your finished portraits will be available to pick up within 2 weeks of placing your order. I will contact you when your portraits have arrived. Reorders – Your images will be kept on file for one year after your session. A $50.00 minimum purchase is required for all reorders. Rescheduling – I understand that occasional illnesses are inevitable. Please do not bring a sick child to a portrait session. If you need to reschedule your session due to an illness, please notify me within 24 hours of your session. If you need to cancel a session without rescheduling, please provide at least 48 hours notice in order to have your session fee refunded.
